Can I sell back an old diamond ring at a main jewelry store fetter (Zales, Kay, Jared, etc.)?

no you cant sell it back they will look at you like your crazy!

After you have worn it and taken the tag off, you cant return it !
Sorry!
But if the tag is still on they might let you return it!

Don’t expect much, even good quality.
Profits are high on diamonds and they consider less than original “cost”. That’s wholesale.

Most major chains will not buy back your ring.

You will do better to sell it to a local independent jeweler. Go around to several and see what the best price is you can get.

You will not be able to get the retail price you paid for it.

Your other option would be to sell it to an individual, again, you can not expect to get what you paid but you may be able to get more than any jewelry store will pay for it.

Just saw this question…
The answer is YES. I just asked the other day at Zales.

You can trade UP – Whatever you trade in, you have to find something twice the price to trade up to.

That’s great that they trade up, but that doesn’t help me when I need the money.
